San Francisco Bay Area hit by another fiber optic cut on the 1st of this July, continuing the streak of incidents to interrupt internet services in the region and becoming headache for law enforcement authorities.
The latest event to disrupt the internet communication occurred near the city of Livermore. Reports confirmed unknown person or might be persons made their way through the manhole cover and ruined dozens of fiber optic cables out there. The FBI is investigating the Bay Area incident.
The network is operated by giant providers such as Level 3 Communications. These companies own huge capacity to transfer data and also serve as third party providers, therefor it is highly predicted the internet services would be greatly slowed down in several cities on the West Coast.
Microsoft announced the break down for its Azure services in the Bay Area due to Livermore fiber optics cutting. Also the Wave Broadband told to be affected by the incident. The spokesman of Wave told their Customers in Sacramento suburbs lost its services for a while and faced slower internet connection.
There have 11 similar kind of incidents been reported in the Bay Area over the past year. Five events were reported in Fremont whereas other was happened in Walnut Creek, San Jose and Berkeley.
The Liver more incident is the latest in internet disruption streak. FBI is investigating the roots of these events. It is still not confirmed whether the same hands are behind them.
