Ethernet cables are of different types like STP, FTP, and UTP which are designed to serve multiple purposes, slight variations are intended to target a specific computing operation. Cables must be compatible with the design and orientation of the building.
STP stands for shielded twisted pair cables. The extra bit of layering is provided to handle the pressure of Electromagnetic influx from internal and external sources. Cross-talks from bulky computing networks can be hazardous so STP cables because of the extra coating will be able to counter and demolish the radiation outburst popping out of systems or from elsewhere.
UTP stands for untwisted pair cables. Un-shielded means it doesn’t have the extra covering, layering to overcome massive outburst of EMI’s. It can sustain inadequate and mediocre environments but may not be too resistive. UTP cables are used in Local area networks (LAN’s) and communication systems such as telephone wiring.
FTP stands for foil twisted pair cables. This type of CAT cable is used to transmit information over long distances. Longer the distance, higher is the risk of interactions with EMI’s and this cable comes handy as the twists and turns don’t make it vulnerable to damage, collapses or data loss.
All the three variations in CAT cables (STP, UTP, and FTP) are intended for high-class performance with slight maneuvering for efficiency and quality performance.
