The latest extradition hearing of the suspect, Julian Assange has recently revealed that the United States authorities haven’t made any effort in asking the Wikileaks rival to remove leaked cables in order to make the case easy for the suspect.
It all started with a veteran internet activist, John Young who published almost 25000 classified documents on his much-hyped website called Cryptome on September 1st, 2011. A day after these classified documents were being published, Wikileaks took them and put them online which later on resulted in numerous conflicts. Not only this, but these leaked cables also helped the authorities in catching many alleged hackers who were plotting about disclosing national defense information.
The prime suspect, Julian Assange who is happened to be the founder of Wikileaks is also one of those alleged hackers and he is currently facing an 18-count indictment for being involved in a well-planned plot to hack computers and obtain national defense information for illegal employment. He breached the bail conditions back in September 2019 and now serving 50 weeks jail sentence in a South East London prison.
For now, the suspect’s team arranged a psychiatrist visit on Tuesday which revealed that Assange is on the edge of committing suicide. This revelation has given his case a different kind of unnecessary hype surrounding the suspect’s innocence and suicide.
Moreover, an emeritus professor of neuropsychiatry at King’s College London, Michael Kopelman has also visited Assange almost 20 times in prison and he said, the suspect can only commit suicide suffering from any clinical disorder. He disclosed that according to his opinion there are certain clinical factors that can trigger the suspect to commit suicide instead of anything related to extradition.
While speaking about the matter, an NHS doctor, Dr Nigel Blackwood has revealed that the suspect has denied suffering from any mental health issue as he is too resourceful and resilient for that.
Ever since the case has got the hype with the backing of a sensitive matter like suicide, all the important personnel, officials and authorities have been shifting blame which became a reason behind the imprisonment of the suspect. US authorities have been claiming that they tried to stop the Wikileaks rival; John Young to remove those classified cables.
However, while speaking exclusively about the reasons which led Assange to imprisonment and the US authorities’ claim, John Young said, “Since my publication on Cryptome of the unredacted diplomatic cables, no US law enforcement authority has notified me that this publication of the cables is illegal, consists or contributes to a crime in any way, nor have they asked for them to be removed.”
The story has taken another twist as a famous Swiss IT expert has revealed that the leaked US diplomatic cables came into the public domain after the publication of a famous book by the Guardian, back in February 2011. However, the Guardian has totally denied the claims by saying that it is totally wrong to blame the Guardian’s book to be the reason behind the leakage of US classified data.
